人生五阶段
一般而言，人一辈子要经过五个阶段：

1. infancy  婴儿期
2. childhood 童年期
3. adolescence 青春期
4. maturity 成年期（包括 manhood 和 womanhood）
5. old age 老年期

下面我们来学习英语中表示人生各个阶段的常用词

婴儿
英语中表示婴儿的名词有：

1. baby
   She has a new baby; it came to the wold yesterday.
2. infant
   A special research team is performing experiments on completely blind infants.

儿童
英语中表示儿童的名词有：

1. kid
   The kids enjoy reading picture-book.
2. child
   Children in Britain go to primary school at the age of five.

青少年
英语中表示青少年的名词除了boy和girl外，还有：

1. youngster
   This book is popular with youngsters.
2. youth
   There were two youths standing at the street corner.
3. teenager
   This is a party for teenagers.
4. juvenile
   There is a special court for juveniles who break the law.
5. adolescent
   Adolescents often have difficulties as they grow up.

未成年
英语中表示未成年的名词有：

1. minor
   She is still a minor.
2. under age
   He can’t go to the film because he’s under age.
   英语常用young, little 来形容未成年人，比如：little baby, young/little child, young/little boy, young man.

成年
英语中表示成年的名词，除了man和woman以外，还有：

1. adult
   The film is for adults only.
2. grown-up
   He’s a grown-up now; let him decide his own future. 

老年
英语中表示老年的词有如下一些：

1. old
   The club is exclusively for old people.
2. aged
   He’s very aged now; over ninety years old.
3. elderly
   My father is getting elderly now and can’t walk very fast.
4. advanced in years
   He’s well advanced in years.
5. at a good old age
   He’s at a good old age. (他得享高寿)
